Food Pantries

                

AMES

Mid-Iowa Community Action (MICA) (515) 956-3333, 125 S. 3rd St. Suite 100  Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm.  Can be visited once every 3 months.  Story County residents only.  Photo ID required with current address.

 

Bethesda Lutheran Church (515) 232-6256, 1517 Northwestern Avenue.  Monday/Wednesday

9-11am and Tuesday/Thursday 1-3pm, also Tuesday evenings 6:30-8pm.  Can be visited once a month.  Photo ID required.  Please enter the west entrance of the church.

 

Calvary United Methodist Church (515) 232-6329, 1403-24th Street.  Tuesday 2-3:30pm.  Can be visited once a month. 

 

First Evangelical Free Church (515) 232-2765, 2008-24th Street.  Tuesday 2-4pm and Thursday 9am-12 noon.  Must live in Ames and provide photo ID with current address.  Can be visited every other month for 3 times total in 6 months, then once every 6 months.  Does not provide vouchers of any kind.

 

First United Methodist Church (515) 232-2750, 516 Kellogg.  FREE MEALS: Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30-6:15pm and Saturdays from 11:30am-12:15pm.

 

Grand Avenue Baptist Church (515) 232-8803, 612-24th Street. Call first to schedule an appointment with the on-call person.

 

Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance (515) 296-1449, 508 Kellogg Ave.  MondayFriday 9am-12 noon or call for an appointment.  Food vouchers available for eggs, milk, cheese, and fresh produce. 

 

Seventh Day Adventist Church (515) 232-0472.  Call to schedule an appointment and address will be provided.  Proof of income required.

 

The Help Center (515) 232-3074, 110 Duff Avenue.  Thursday 3pm-7pm.  Can visit 3 times in a 6-month period. Provides bread and other food items.

 

Meals on Wheels (515) 239-6730  Prepares and delivers meals to the elderly and disabled.

Self-Help And Resource Exchange (SHARE) Provides monthly food packages valued at $30-$35 for discounted prices.  Can pay with cash or food stamps. Participants must also volunteer for 2 hours that month in the community.  Advance sign-up required for distribution later in the month at Heartland Senior Services.  For more information, call (515) 268-5323 or 1-888-442-5303.

 

EASTERN STORY COUNTY

Colo Community Food Pantry (641) 377-2770, United Methodist Church, 602-4th Street.  Tuesday 6:30pm-8:30pm or Friday 9:30am-11:30am or call for an appointment.  Can visit once a month.  Only for Eastern Story County communities.

 

Nevada Community Cupboard (515) 382-4440, St. Patrick’s Church, 1110-11th Street.  Saturday 10-11:30am.  Can visit once a month.  Only for Eastern Story County communities.  Call for an appointment if it is an emergency.

 

CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge Food Pantry (515) 383-4392, United Methodist Church, 215 -2nd Street.  Monday 3:30-6pm, Wednesday 1-6pm, Friday 5-8pm, and Saturday 1-5:30pm.  Available every 2 weeks to the Cambridge community only.  Enter through the church basement.

HUXLEY/KELLEY

Huxley Food Pantry (515) 597-2831, Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, 209 North 2nd Avenue.  Wednesday 6-7pm.  Can be visited once a month.  Will deliver in an emergency situation. Huxley and Kelley communities only.
